This blog is retired
I can no longer cope with the time requirements of maintaining multiple blogs, as such this blog will no longer be posted to. There may be pool and or snooker posts to my main blog The Fun of Living

Passing on tips
Played pool with the usual guys last night. One of them has an upcoming friendly competition (bit of an oxymoron, but hey). So I was passing one or two tips to him last night. He's a good enough player for the type of games he's in normally.
But when it comes to training someone, or even just passing along some tips, how much is too much? Correcting their grip and stroke technique? Should one cap it there for a while, or also point out a problem with the bridge? Too much information and you'll overload your subject, not enough and his game won't be the best you can make it. I capped last night at two, because, well for one, I'm not getting paid for it, two I was having a good time relaxing. But in serious lessons, what's the cutoff point? Ideas are most welcome...

Throwing away the gauntlet
I normally play pool and snooker with a glove. Usually black, but this time I have a white and black number. Bad call, never get a glove with white on it. It is now white, grey and black with the odd hint of blue. Anyway, back to the point, recently I have been trying to get myself to play without it for several reasons.
It feels a tad uncomfortable, stops me from picking up a drink with my left hand, making every sip a requirement for switching cues, balancing a cigarette on an ashtray and then picking up the drink. It also gets me strange looks and random people walking up to play me a game.
None of which on there own would be enough to make me stop using, but combined, it made me decide to abandon it.
